It's getting to the point where you have to be creative in order to find any work. This is something that I'm struggling with as there are slim pickings when it comes to finding work right now. I know that I've mentioned the need to have other jobs lined up and I'm glad that this is something that I've been able to do but wish that they were writing related. Such is life though and as long as I'm able to support myself working from home I should just be happy.

Freelance Writing Jobs: Wednesday, May 23, 2006

Slim pickings so far this week:

  2. FROM CRAIGS LIST Blog Writers NeededReply to: job-339651028@craigslist.orgDate: 2007-05-27, 11:27PM PDTContributing Writers needed for: http://www.hollywoodgrind.com (Celebrity news and Gossip) http://www.fabgrind.com (Fashion and Shopping) http://www.nerdgrind.com (Gadgets and Technology) We also have a political blog that will be launching soon. - Required: work from home with your own computer, and high speed Internet connection. The qualified candidate will be able to write in a postitive tone, has a good work ethic, and is motivated to produce quality articles. Respond to this ad for more information.
  3. WTB Articles

Since there seems to be some people on Craigs List who seem unable to deal with any type of competition and thus are flagging job posts so that they will be removed, I'm going to start copying the ad here with "FROM CRAIGSLIST" in front of it as to give them proper credit. I don't think that it's fair that these people are doing this and yet I don't really want to be the 1 to get in trouble for it either. As such, it is my hope that this will give proper recognition while allowing others to still be able to apply for these jobs.

Freelance Writing Jobs: Wednesday, May 23, 2006

OK So I managed to find 3 jobs that are worth applying for today:
  1. Writer needed for newsletter
  2. Writer wanted for Las Vegas web site
  3. Web surfer / writer / editor
As Lori said in a comment on yesterday's post, it is helpful to find a few clients that are constantly wanting articles written. I really wish that this was something that I could find but as of right now I haven't been able to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions on how you can find these clients? Go ahead and share your secrets with me ;) I'd really appreciate it.

I really must say that the market this week sucks. I haven't been able to find anything much to apply for and then what I did manage to find and apply for I haven't heard anything back. I'm not sweating it yet as I do have some back up stuff and enough work to make it through this week but if I don't find something next week, you may start to see me stress.

This does bring up a good topic though. You must really have some back up work in place as a freelance writer. Otherwise you are going to not be able to make the money that you want or need to make. I'm glad that this is something that I've learned a long time ago. While I do write for Associated Content and I also have another, non writing related, business. It has to do with taking care of the Earth while also caring for your own health. If you'd like to own your own business I suggest you check this one out.

Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. I think I may post some ads and email my clients that I haven't heard from in a while so that I can drum up some business around here.

Good luck!

Sunday, May 13, 2007

Just a brief note to let you know that I'm not going to be out job hunting this week. I'm a bit bogged down with work and need to use this week just to get caught up. I encourage you to look through the links I've provided at the side of this blog to find some jobs for yourself if you need them. I simply cannot handle taking on any more work from these web sites. However, this does NOT mean that I'm not open to taking new clients. So, if you're here to look at my writing services, please note that I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

It looks as though it's famine time again folks. I've scoured the 'Net and haven't been able to find a single job to apply for today. Hopefully you're like me and have other clients and work that can keep you busy. I'll check again tomorrow before taking off for the weekend. Hopefully there will be something available then. Until then good luck and happy writing! P.S. If you don't have anything to do today, take some time to go outside and enjoy the weather.

Monday, May 7, 2007

I just realized that I haven't done much posting here lately, outside of job posts. This is because I've been so busy with my clients and with homeschooling my daughter. You could honestly say that my business is moving in the right direction. It's such a nice feeling when clients contact you and you no longer have to chase after them for work. I'm still applying for new work because I'm afraid to hit another "drought" but I really am booked for this and next week. I really enjoy this because I am only working 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night and taking the weekends off. I like being able to spend the day hours with my daughter doing things together at home or going places. Her homeschooling is going really smooth and easy too. I've found a method that works and hopefully and can stick with it for some time to come. I've also reinvested some of my money from writing into a new business but I'll go into that in more detail when I get set up to do so. Here's hoping things are going as well for you as they are for me!

Tuesday, May 1, 2007

It is such a beautiful day outside. It's one of those days that makes me so glad that I'm able to work from home. My daughter and I went for a nice leisurely walk and now that we had lunch, I'm ready to get some work done so that we can go outside again later.

We've had a wonderful day outside. We had a lot of "homeschooly" stuff going on today. This has thankfully kept us quite busy. I'm now ready to settle down for the night and really hope that this bad weather goes away soon. Time to get some stuff done again.
